Privacy Policy

Section Launcher is an Android home-screen replacement app. This page explains what data it accesses and what happens to it. The short version: almost everything stays on your device, there's no account, no ads, and no analytics.

App and device information

To function as a launcher, the app reads the list of apps installed on your device (names, icons, and package names) so it can display and launch them. This information never leaves your device.

Notification access (optional)

If you enable Notification Badges in Settings, the app requests Notification Access — a sensitive Android permission. With it enabled, the app only checks whether a given app currently has an active notification, in order to show a small dot on its icon. It does not read, store, or transmit the content, sender, or text of any notification. This permission is off by default and only takes effect if you explicitly grant it in system settings.

Weather (optional)

If you enable the weather display on the home-screen clock widget, the app makes a request to wttr.in, a free third-party weather service. wttr.in determines an approximate location from the request's IP address to return local weather — the app does not request or use your device's GPS location, and no other personal information is sent. This feature is off by default.

Backup and restore

The app can export your layout and settings to a JSON file you choose where to save, and keeps automatic rolling backups in the app's private storage on your device. None of this is uploaded anywhere; it stays on your device or wherever you choose to save the exported file.

What we don't do

• No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
• No advertising or ad SDKs
• No account, sign-in, or user profile
• No data sold or shared with third parties

Children's privacy

Section Launcher is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the "last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the app after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
